The Drifter
Alex Hinders, 2012.
Colored pencil and pen.
This drawing is dedicated to my mom and also served as her Christmas gift. It suits her, because she’s both a traveler at heart and a big fan of Westerns. She’s actually currently traveling across the West coast in her RV. Actually. I’m quite jealous — she’s managed to escape from Winter! As for the drawing itself, I think the train tracks represent how the Drifter is walking his own path. While trains might be ‘stuck’ to their tracks, the Drifter is not a train, and is free to lay new rails wherever he wants, and to take any fork or turn he desires.
